Print Issue #4 – Threads

Femme Art Review is accepting writing submissions for our fourth print issue with the theme ‘Threads.’ We aim to spotlight textile work and the discussions surrounding this form of cultural production. In addition to featuring textile art (embroidery, weaving, sewing, crocheting, soft sculpture, etc.) of both women and the LGBTQ2S+ community, we are also open to conceptual approaches to the theme.

Through exploring the theme of threads, we aim to challenge the divide that exists between craft and fine art and question the increasingly divisive political environment we live in. We are interested in questions such as: How might we better understand our connectedness through art? How can textile art and its surrounding culture help us to envision a more interconnected future? What threads tie us together, and how can we weave them effectively to bring us closer to each other during these divisive times?

Print submissions are due by Friday, July 31, at 11:59 pm. Submissions can be either a pitch with links to writing examples or a draft article. Please send your submissions to femmeartreview@gmail.com.

*Successful submissions for the print issue will be compensated with an honorarium of $200 CAD paid upon publication.

This project is supported by the London Arts Council through the City of London’s Community Arts Investment Program.
